Why Sponsor?

What is it?

Chance to Dance is a new performance challenge for East Yorkshire & the Humber’s Primary and Secondary schools, as well as Youth Groups, taking place June/July 2020 (Dates TBC).

Children across the region can showcase their creativity with a dance performance around their chosen theme. We want to see young people celebrate participation in performing arts whilst creating inspiring productions.

Performances will be judged by theatre and dance professionals from the region. The top 3 schools will receive prizes to improve performance arts access in their school community.

Chance to Dance is run by DA Creative Studio in partnership with National Events Support.

Our Mission

Year on year, schools and youth groups across East Yorkshire & the Humber have proven themselves to be performance enthusiasts, with children competing as dancers, lighting technicians, set-designers and more.

The absence of Rock Challenge this year has created huge disappointment among former participants. We are passionate about creating an alternative opportunity for talented young people everywhere to showcase and develop their skills, whilst gaining lifelong benefits.

Chance to Dance is a new platform for positivity and performing arts.

Why sponsor?

We seek sponsorship to help cover the costs of producing a fantastic show and most importantly, building an exciting platform for students to express their creativity, nurture confidence, and work as a team during an unforgettable educational experience.

Sponsorship will support our mission across all three competitions. Chance to Dance promotes good health and provides physical, mental and social well-being benefits to participants.

The process educates and reinforces positive messages to students, in a friendly and competitive environment.

Access to the arts is important to allow young people to boldly express their personalities, and is a healthy outlet for emotions and reflections.

What it provides

  • Physical benefits through dance and exercise.
  • Social benefits such as creating new relationships, learning to work in a team, and building a wider school community.
  • Mental health benefits as children are given a platform to express their emotions and thoughts creatively.
  • Personal achievements include overcoming shyness, increased confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
  • Inclusivity as performing teams can be made up of students with a range of religions, ethnicities, behavioural and special education needs.
  • A positive educational experience – taking part can increase the confidence of pupils who may struggle in the classroom, creating a better relationship and trust between students and their school.

The Competition

The event has been created through consultation with schools in the region, and is designed to encourage student participation in performing arts whilst devising exciting and entertaining productions.

Young people will have the opportunity to showcase more than just their dancing skills, with areas such as choreography, set building and costume design highlighted throughout the two-day showcase.

Performances will be judged by theatre and dance professionals from the region, as well as special guest judges.
